I would like to share an
experience when I found myself caught in a frustrating traffic jam. It happened
last year in the bustling city of London during the evening rush hour. The
incident lasted for approximately two hours, giving me ample time to reflect on
the situation.
I vividly recall the day; it
was a rainy Friday evening, and I was commuting home from work on the busy M25
motorway. As I merged onto the highway, I noticed the traffic gradually slowing
down and eventually coming to a complete standstill. The sea of brake lights
stretched for miles ahead, indicating that I was trapped in a long-lasting
traffic congestion.
I estimated that I spent
around two hours stuck in the traffic jam. Initially, I felt a sense of
annoyance and impatience as I anticipated reaching home to unwind after a
tiring week. However, as the minutes turned into hours, I realized that there
was little I could do to change the situation. Instead of growing more
frustrated, I decided to make the most of my time by engaging in various
activities.
To occupy myself while
waiting, I first turned on the radio and listened to some calming music. This
helped create a soothing atmosphere within the confines of my car. I also
utilized my smartphone to catch up on pending emails, respond to messages, and
even read an e-book that I had been meaning to finish for a while. Moreover, I
took the opportunity to reflect on recent events and plan for the upcoming
weekend, making mental notes of tasks and responsibilities.
Being stuck in the traffic jam
for an extended period evoked a mix of emotions within me. Initially, I felt
frustrated and impatient, longing to break free from the stagnation. However,
as time passed, I realized that my frustration would only escalate if I dwelled
on the situation. Consequently, I made a conscious effort to remain calm and
composed, focusing on activities that would make the waiting time more
productive and enjoyable. Eventually, I accepted the circumstance as a
temporary inconvenience and adopted a more positive outlook.
